In the daily biological processes of the animal kingdom, greenhouse gases are emitted to the atmosphere. When the sun shines, it releases energy toward the planets. When energy reaches Earth, the greenhouse gases reflects it back to the sun and in all directions including Earth. This is turn, heats the surface temperature to a point that is tolerable and can sustain life.
However, when greenhouse gases increase in number due to artificial manufacturing, this complicates processes and increase surface temperature to a process known as the greenhouse effect. Plants, trees, and sea life forms absorb carbon from the atmosphere to sustain its needs thus lowering the number of carbon. This is how trees help the environment. However, due to deforestation and increase of carbon producing industries, this has gave way to a worldwide phenomenon known as global warming and has heated the Earth's temperature to an intolerable point.
Due to increasing global warming, there is a need of saving earth before much damage is done. The United Nations responded to this dilemma by implementing the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UFCCC) that adopted the Kyoto Protocol which aimed at stabilizing greenhouse gases. Until today, the UN aimed stabilized greenhouse gases by 2050. Some philanthropist opened environmental charities to aid in the need reducing carbon emissions.
However, the best efforts at reducing carbon emissions should be from the larger community. Each individual has a responsibility as stewards of the environment, and there are ways to reduce carbon. The usual methods how carbon is emitted ranges from huge oil and gas industries to vehicle emission and deforestation down to the use of hairspray and burning plastic. It is essential that vehicles must be submitted for vehicle emission testing. Burning of plastic should be kept to a minimum and recycling of plastic materials is encouraged. Each and everyone should participate in reforestation of trees because trees lower down carbon concentrations and that is how trees help the environment.
